African Mask, Baule Tribe, Ivory Coast, Rare, Wooden, Old
Regular price $650.00
A wooden rare mask from Ivory Coast, Africa, made by the Baule (Baoule, Bawule) tribe, cca 1940s, possibly older. A similar design and the same tribe of the very first mask known to have been brought out of Africa - helped inspire the Cubist movement. From my husband's and my personal collection. Acquired through an African Art Gallery in San Francisco in the 80s. 12 inches high, 7.5 inches wide, 3.5 inches deep. Some normal chips and cracks, in very good vintage condition. The mask will be shipped carefully packaged and insured. Please message for any questions.
