A rare and unique hand carved wooden antique mask from Java, Indonesia circa 1950s, with painted eyes and lips and mother of pearl teeth. Quite a formidable piece. Some teeth are missing and some paint has rubbed off, there is a crack in the wood on one side close to the mouth - see photos for details, all due to it's age and it indicates that the mask was most probably used often in rituals and ceremonies. Measures 8" tall and 5.5" wide.
